What does it mean to be a professional anything?

With most professions, entering the ranks of the "professional" means you have a certain level of education and experience.

With poker, all it really means to be a pro is that you make your living playing poker. If you can sustain yourself with $300 a week, then a player who averages $300 a week could be considered a poker professional.

Texas No Limit Hold'Em is a game that is structured to reward patience and geared towards producing violent collisions. On a base level, you can't win pots if your money isn't in the middle. The biggest money makers are often on drawing hands. It takes a certain amount of courage and stupidity to hang in there sometimes. The trick is to minimize luck and your own level of stupidity, which I am not convinced is possible for everyone.

I think I am an above average poker player, but I want to be so much better than slightly above average. As with all my hobbies, I attack them with passion and work to be the best I can be. Poker is no different.

Life is all about odds. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. We can only try to get our money in the best spots, but sometimes that isn't good enough either.
